  23. regulare 060's, and in that case. I think you're nuts !!!

  25. PowerPC is more widely used and I think that it would therefor be
  26. a lot cheaper and easier for AT to get these chips. I mean that
  27. was the problem with the 060 and the 040, there weren't many
  28. that buyers, so not many were produced.

  30. Another thing.. I've read that end '96 or somewhere in '97 the PowerPC
  31. chip can already reach speeds of 600Mhz. I think the PowerPc chip is
  32. simply more supported. It doesn't matter if one chip is better. Look at
  33. the Intel versus Motorola. I mean the 68000 was a better CPU then the
  34. Clone chips these days.. But look now.. A pentium is about 4x times
  35. faster then the 68060 (don't know if I'm correct here, just guessing)
  36. , but then again the Pentiums are badly designed. Did you know that
  37. if you don't give the CPU something to do, it's performance will go down ??

  40. The things about Custom-gfx-chips :
  41. Why not use a SVGA ?? I mean they are cheap and updated very often !!!
  42. If AT is designing it's own chips, it would mean AT needs about
  43. 30,40 very experienced gfx-chips designers and millions $$$ And we all know
  44. that is not the situation right now. I mean a SVGA chip costs 10$ ? What
  45. do think the Custom chips will cost if AT desgined them ?? More then 10$,
  46. thats for sure. And those chips would need to be upgraded every year to keep
  47. up with the compitition.
